At HSBA, our students go above and beyond, showing incredible commitment even outside their studies. Whether it鈥檚 performing in the HSBA Band, participating in numerous sports events, or contributing to our university podcast 鈥沦迟耻诲别苍迟别苍蹿耻迟迟别谤鈥�, the HSBA spirit is alive in all student-led initiatives, known as committees. Currently, we have 15 active committees that shape and organize the vibrant student life at HSBA through their dedication and enthusiasm.

As a non-profit organization, we are unable to fully fund these initiatives on our own. To bridge this gap, the Association of Friends and Supporters was established. This association brings together our partner companies, faculty members, alumni, business representatives, and individuals interested in HSBA to help sustain and encourage student engagement.

Mattias SchmelzerIch kenne die HSBA nun schon seit vielen Jahren 鈥� aus Dozentensicht und aus Sicht eines Kooperationsunternehmens. Als Vorsitzender des VFF er枚ffnen sich mir nun noch einmal ganz andere M枚glichkeiten, auf die Entwicklung der Hochschule einzuwirken und Studierende bestm枚glich zu f枚rdern, darauf freue ich mich sehr.

Barbara HatzerAls passionierte HR-Expertin bin ich seit vielen Jahren der HSBA und ihrer innovativen, ganzheitlichen und praxisnahen Ausbildung verbunden. In meiner aktuellen T盲tigkeit als Head of People f眉r die globale Technologieberatung Thoughtworks wird mir jeden Tag vor Augen gef眉hrt, wie sehr wir als Arbeitgeber darauf angewiesen sind, dass unsere jungen Talente eine Ausbildung erhalten, die sie fachlich mit zeitgem盲脽en und anspruchsvollen Inhalten auf die Zukunft vorbereitet und sie gleichzeitig als junge Menschen in ihrer Individualit盲t und mit Teamgeist f枚rdert. Sehr gerne unterst眉tzte ich als Mitglied im Vorstand der Freunde und 贵枚谤诲别谤别谤 der HSBA die ehrgeizigen Ambitionen und kreativen Ideen der HSBA f眉r ihre Studierenden.

Dr. Jochen Hau脽erViele Jahre begleite ich die HSBA nun schon. F眉r mich steht die HSBA mit ihren Studierenden, den Professorinnen und Professoren f眉r das Streben nach Exzellenz, Teamgeist und der Bereitschaft, sich stets beruflich und pers枚nlich weiterzuentwickeln. Diese Eigenschaften erkenne ich auch in der beruflichen Arbeit mit HSBA-Studierenden in meinen Teams wieder. Um diese wichtige Bildungsarbeit fortzusetzen, bedarf es Freunde und 贵枚谤诲别谤别谤. Als solcher m枚chte ich mich gern einbringen.

Anja RodenbergIm t盲glichen Berufsleben bin ich Wirtschaftspr眉ferin/Steuerberaterin bei der Baker Tilly GmbH & Co. KG, Wirtschaftspr眉fungsgesellschaft, in Schwerin/Hamburg. Der Verein unterst眉tzt in so vorbildlicher Weise die Studierenden, sei es im Sport, im Studium oder sonstigem Engagement. Die gro脽e Dankbarkeit macht mich gl眉cklich und spornt mich an, weiter f眉r die HSBA und ihre Studierenden aktiv zu bleiben.

Dr. Mathias P. SchlichtingAls Partner einer wirtschaftlich und steuerlich ausgerichteten Kanzlei und bei meiner T盲tigkeit als Aufsichtsrat/ Beirat von 鈥� auch b枚rsennotierten 鈥� Unternehmen sch盲tze ich die Zusammenarbeit mit sehr gut ausgebildeten Kolleginnen und Kollegen sowie Teams. Aus diesem Grunde unterst眉tze ich den Verein seit seiner Gr眉ndung darin, die Ziele der HSBA und ihrer Studierenden zu erreichen, u.a. durch F枚rderung von Promotionsstudien, Auslandsaufenthalten, Gew盲hrung von Studien-Stipendien etc.

Goals and Activities of the Association
It is the aim of the Association of Friends and Sponsors at HSBA to further develop HSBA to one of the leading private business schools by further expanding activities with the Hamburg business community, with international contacts and student initiatives. The work of the Association is diverse and comprises all aspects and areas of university life.
Scholarships: Offering of scholarships especially for particularly high-performing students as well as co-financing of the "Deutschland Stipendium" of HSBA
Award for Special Commitment of Students: Awarding of non-cash prizes for special commitment of students during their studies within the framework of the Graduation Ceremony
Research and Participation in Conferences for HSBA Professors: Subsidisation of national and international conferences and symposia for HSBA professors
Committee Work: Subsidisation of student projects and committee work especially for the social committee, the sport committee and conferences organised by the students
Events: Own events and the Fundraising Dinner with top-class speakers such as Kai Diekmann, Dr. Dieter Zetsche, State Minister Joachim Herrmann or Peer Steinbr眉ck

Recap of the Annual Reception of the HSBA Friends and Supporters Association
An Evening of Inspiration and Engagement
The 2024 Annual Reception of the HSBA Friends and Supporters Association was a remarkable event filled with inspiring moments and meaningful connections. Highlights included a captivating presentation by Dr. Hans Jaich, who shared insights from his research on how corporate sustainability influences employees' behaviors. His findings, based on a real-world study within his own company, earned him and his family business the prestigious German Tourism Award in 2023. Another standout feature of the evening was the presence of representatives from all HSBA student committees. From the Entrepreneurs Club to the Sustainability Committee and even the HSBA Band, guests had the chance to explore the vibrant student life and engage in conversations with the passionate individuals driving these initiatives.
Special thanks go to KPMG AG for their generous support and for hosting this memorable evening. We look forward to the next Annual Reception and more inspiring moments to come!

Autumn 2019: A Tea with Friends
For the first time, the Association of Friends and Sponsors of HSBA organised a tea with friends to which all members, teachers, professors, employees as well as interested company representatives were invited. In a relaxed and British atmosphere, the Peter M枚hrle Coffee Lounge was the perfect place to exchange ideas, praise and criticism on the development of HSBA while enjoying some delicious scones and tea.
A great opportunity to get to know each other better and learn more about the Association of Friends and Sponsors. At the end of the afternoon everyone agreed: This afternoon will have to be repeated next year!
Spring 2019: Annual Reception
At the Annual Reception of the Association of Friends & Sponsors (Verein der Freunde & 贵枚谤诲别谤别谤 der HSBA e.V.) our numerous guests, including members of the association, students and company representatives, had the opportunity to meet and discuss with the renowned journalist and former anchorman of the Tagesthemen, Tom Buhrow.
Buhrow started off with taking a look to the US where for several years now Donald Trump has been using the media to drive the division of society. With interesting examples he showed up parallels between the Old and the New World making clear that in five to ten years Germany could be facing similar social challenges as the US. But with this in mind, what is the role of public service broadcasting today and why is it still relevant and important? Tom Buhrow made clear the importance of an independent provision of information to all people in one country as a means of social cohesion. The need for trustworthy news from an independent public service broadcaster in his opinion is larger than ever and holds the potential to further 鈥済lue鈥� the society together. A truly impressive evening with a lot of food for thought for all guests!
We thank all participants and members of the association for the active participation and their support. Special thanks go to Senator Ian K. Karan, Chairman of the Association of Friends and Supporters of the HSBA e.V., for his introductory words and the enthusiasm with which he advances the further development of the HSBA.
Fundraising Dinner 2018
Joachim Herrmann, Bavarian State Minister of the Interior, for Construction and Transport, was a guest at the Fundraising Dinner 2018 of the Association of Friends and Sponsors of the HSBA. Minister of State Herrmann spoke at the invitation of the chairman of the association Ian. K. Karan in front of 80 invited guests in the restaurant VLET at the Alster lake on the topic "Quo Vadis Germany?
Fundraising Dinner 2015
Dr. Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG, was a guest at the Fundraising Dinner 2015 of the Association of Friends and Sponsors of HSBA. Zetsche spoke at the invitation of the chairman of the association, Ian. K. Karan in front of more than 120 invited guests in the Old Main Customs Office in Hamburg's Speicherstadt on the topic "The education of the future: dual, digital, ideal".
