The HSBA Insights series offers events that are primarily aimed at our students. In online or face-to-face events, they can get to know important partners and committees of our university. In addition, workshops are offered that are important for personal and professional development.

How To Startup – First Steps for (Female) Founders

International Women’s Day, 8 March 2023, 6:00 pm

Angel investor, Impacct founder, author of the Female Founder Handbook, and much more... Heidrun Twesten supports startup founders from all sides, most recently with the event series Female StartAperitivo. From both the start-up and the investment perspective, skills and the right know-how are taught, inspiration and network opportunities emerge. Now she is coming to HSBA, or rather she is inviting us to the office of JobMatchMe-founder Yesica Rios. Accompanied by a beautiful view across the harbor, Heidrun will give an interactive keynote on the first steps of entrepreneurship. What do I have to be prepared for? How do I build a network? Who should I approach and how? If you are interested in the topic of founding a start-up or are even already thinking about founding one yourself, this is just the right event for you. &²Ô²ú²õ±è;

Founder, Angel Investor & Strategic Genius: Entrepreneurs Club Welcomes Alexander Djordjevic

On Wednesday, February 15 at 7:00 p.m., the Entrepreneurs Club welcomes HSBA alumnus Alexander Djordjevic to the Peter Möhrle Lounge on the HSBA campus.

Since 2012, Alexander Djordjevic has shaken up the food industry with his startup Foodist with subscription boxes & influencer marketing. During his time there, the company has brought it to over 600,000 customers and an annual turnover of almost €30 million. He is also the strategic head behind the successful influencer brand "Naturally Pam" by Pamela Reif. A few weeks ago, Alexander Djordjevic announced his exit - to one of the largest private equity investors in Europe. 

We will talk about what he wants to focus on in the future and to what extent his angel investments will play a role there.

Die Versammlung Eines Ehrbaren Kaufmanns zu Hamburg e.V. (VEEK) – Student speaker Julian Thormählen meets Gunter Mengers, chairman of the VEEK.

The Versammlung Eines Ehrbaren Kaufmanns is - along with the Foundation for Advancing of HSBA and the HSBA Alumni Association - one of the shareholders of our university and thus one of our most important partners. In addition, the association has been offering a mentoring programme for our postgraduate students since 2009. 

The VEEK was founded in 1517 and is the largest value-oriented association in Germany with around 1,200 members. It embodies typical Hanseatic values such as consistency, cosmopolitanism and reliability, which have helped Hamburg merchants for centuries to act successfully and in a value-oriented manner and to offer services that are just as relevant in today's business world. 

Join our HSBA Insights Talk to find out how the merchants work together, what their goals are and how they implement them, what current projects there are and how you can become a member. HSBA’s student speaker Julian Thormählen and the chairman of VEEK, Gunter Mengers, are looking forward to hosting you.

For our undergraduate students: Credits totaling 0.08 ECTS may be awarded for this course as part of the WBÃœ-elective. 

The HSBA Alumni Association - Student representative Julian Thormählen meets the chairmen of the board Konrad Gruner and Mats Brandt

The HSBA Alumni Association is – along with the Stiftung zur Förderung der HSBA and the Versammlung eines Ehrbaren Kaufmann zu Hamburg (VEEK) – one of the shareholders of our university and thus one of the most important partners. It consists of former students of HSBA and its predecessor, the Business Academy (Wirtschaftsakademie) and has prominent members such as the Chairman of the Executive Board of the Otto Group, Alexander Birken, or the founder of Foodist, Alexander Djordjevic. 

 With more than 1,500 members, the Alumni Association offers a strong network from which students benefit. You can learn how to benefit, who exactly is behind the Alumni Association, which events are offered and how you can learn from former HSBA students. Listen to and join in our conversation with the student representative, Julian Thormählen, with the chairmen of the Alumni Association, Konrad Gruner and Mats Brandt. 

Mats Brandt (of class 2015) studied Business Administration and is nowadays Regional Controller at Beiersdorf AG while Konrad Gruner (of class 2016) studied Media Management and now works as Executive Assistant to CEO at Blockchance. Together, they have been leading the Alumni Association Board of Directors with a renewed board team since September 2021.

Integrating Mindfulness Into Your Workday – An Interview by our Master's Student Merlene Vrielmann with Agnes Kick

20 January 2022, 5:00 pm

Agnes Kick, CEO of MBSR-MBCT e.V., made mindfulness her profession. She describes that the view on the topic has progressed in recent years. Especially large corporations like Google, Adobe, Apple or Deutsch Bank have implemented mindfulness programmes to benefit from their advantages, e.g. increasing employees' ability to concentrate or lowering their stress levels.

This 60-minute session on the integration of mindfulness into a workday consists of a short presentation, an interview with Agnes Kick and ad hoc exercises. You will find out about the scientific relations between health and mindfulness and discover ways students can make use of the benefits. The interview will be held in German.
